In for example the (machine) construction, automotive and the bicycle production aluminium parts or end products are provided with an anodized layer. Anodizing the aluminium creates a hard, wear-resistant and porous product. The color of the anodized alumium can not deviate too much from the desires of customers. The manufacturer can perform a quality inspection on the anodized aluminium to control if the color is not deviating too much from the desired result.
A special color sensor from Sensor Instruments is capable to teach-in the desired color and set a certain tolerance for this colour. If a color is deviating less than 5%, the product will be approved. Outside this boundary causes the disapproval or further inspection of the product. This results in a higher product quality. moreover any waste of anodized aluminium can be prevented.
The SPECTRO-3-28-45°/0°-MSM-ANA-DL is a colour sensor which can do a consistent quality inspection of the colour of anodized aluminium. This sensor has a range of 28 mm, switching frequency of 60kHz and can teach up to 3 colors. Furthermore this model works without a fiber optic, which makes it financially more interesting than a color sensor with a fiber optic and still give the same result. The big difference is that now the sensor can be built-in more discretely than with a sensor with an optic. The sensor communicates via RS232 interface and it is possible to configurate the sensor via Window with a PC or laptop. This sensor has 2 digital outputs and 3 analog outputs.
