Detections and measurements on conveyor belts with waste

On conveyor belts in dirty environments such as with waste sorting machines, photoelectric sensors with a high excess gain can be used for product detection and the feed speed can be reliably done using chemical resistent ultrasonic sensors.
Conveyor belts

Dirt, mud and waste... that's what Telco Sensors' photoelectric sensors are made for! The sensors feel completely at home along conveyor belts where product detections must take place. Looking for a level measurement above a conveyor belt to regulate the feed speed? Then, an ultrasonic sensor from microsonic with an analog output is the right choice!

Robust detection with photoelectric sensors

The thru-beam photoelectric sensors from Telco Sensors, namely those from the SM9000 series, are equipped for use in the most challenging applications. An example of one of the problems that arise for other sensors, such as in a garbage sorting machine, is the accumulation of dirt on the sensor. This dirt limits or completely blocks the viewing range of the sensor.

Thanks to the high gain feature, the sensors from the SM9000 series continue to function, even with a large accumulation. The sensor can "see" through this! For extra protection of the sensor head, you can still opt for a stainless steel protective cap with glass screen:

Insusceptible measurements with ultrasonic sensors

For measurements there are the analog ultrasonic sensors from microsonic. These sensors are especially suited for level measurements. It does not matter which color material is present: the ultrasonic sensor is insusceptible to it!

For level measurements in the waste processing industry there are special sensors with a chemical resistancy. Because of this, the sensors are protected against a collection of substances that can be present in the waste, such as acids. For addtional protection it is also possible to mount the sensor horizontally and at a distance to the measurement surface, in this case the pile of waste. With the help of a sound deflector the sound signal can be transferred from and to the sensor which enables the measurement, without risk of damaging the sensor.
