Safety risks because of sticking metal sheets
The stacking of metal sheets is in the industry usually carried out by robots. That is done with suction cups on the robot head. At the hands of oil, the use of protected foil or air between the sheets, it is possible that two sheets are sticking to each other. This can cause big safety risks, because the lowest sheet could still let go during the stacking movement. With a severe injury or damage as a consequence.
There are various sensor solutions which can distinguish a double from a single sheet. For example ultrasonic double layer sensors, or a billateral laser measurement system to determine the thickness of the sheets. These sensors however use a sensor on top as well as below the metal sheet. This gets in the way when making the stacking movement of the robot. So this is necessary to achieve the detection by measuring against the side of the sheet. The L-LAS-RL-20-W is the ideal solution in this case.
Light reflex measuring system for a reliable detection double sheets
The L-LAS-RL-20-W is a light reflex measuring system. By dropping the reflected light of the integrated LED-diodes on a line sensor (CCD), the sensor can determine the position of a transition by analyzing the videosignal. The measurement system is equipped of a analog output as well as digital out and a RS232 interface. The L-LAS-RL-20-W has on app. 55 mm a measuring distance of 20 mm. For a bigger detection range or a bigger detection measuring range the L-LAS-RL-40-W is the right choice.
