Quality controls on the seatbelt webbing
With the inductive sensor XS8D1A1PAM12 from Telemecanique, ferrous labels are detected on seatbelt webbing in a non-contact manner in an automated inspection system. The inspection system performs a quality check on the seatbelt webbing. It automatically applies a ferrous label onto the detected defect in the belt. After applying the ferrous labels by a label applicator, the XS8D1A1PAM12 is used to check whether it is actually present on the seatbelt and whether the position of the label on the belt is correct. When the inductive sensor does not detect the label, the sensor sends out a switching signal to the controller of the inspection system. With a switching frequency of up to 150 Hz, the inductive sensor is fast enough to reliably and consistently detect the presence and position of the metal containing label at a material speed of up to 120 meters per minute.
Inductive sensor with practical design and large detection field
In this specific application, the XS8D1A1PAM12 was chosen because of its practical design and flat mounting method, in combination with the large detection field and switching distance. The inductive proximity switch has a 4-pin M12 connector. The sensor is statically mounted and the connection cable is neatly concealed in a cable duct. That is why the PVC 05 RE 4A M12 connection cable is chosen. The PVC jacket of the connection cable is a common material in basic applications and is therefore a good choice in less critical application areas. Polyvinyl chloride is a durable material that is also cost-effective.
