Preventing damage to crops in the agriculture when spraying the field
In the agriculture it is important to work as efficiently as possible as well as to avoid damage to crops. A crop splinker has to spray the whole field. The height from the spray boom to the crops should not be to low, because this can damage the crops. They should also not be to high, because this decreases the efficiency of the spray for each crop. So a height measurement should be performed from the spray boom on a crop sprinkler to the height of the crops.
Ultrasonic sensors with background filter for reliably measuring the height
For this, ultrasonic sensors can be used. These sensors are placed on the spray boom of the sprinkler to measure the height of the crops. This way the machine ensures that the spray boom always remains at its most efficient height. To ensure that only the height from the spray boom to the height of the crop is measured and not the objects on lower ground such as leaves, a background filter can be programmed.
The lcs+ series is a cubic ultrasonic sensor which serves as a suitable solution for in the spray boom. These sensors have a IP67 protection degree and are thus water and dust proof. Furthermore they have a big measuring range, so also high crops could be sprayed. The lcs+ series also has a teach-in function to install the right reference values and thus making the chance for false measurements smaller.
The lcs+340/F/A and lcs+600/F/A have a PushPull-switching output and support IO-Link Version 1.1 as well as Smart Sensor Profile.
