The are various systems in which the level of for example water or animal feed should be monitored continuously. In a chicken run for example the chickens need to fed multiple times during the day. This could be done manually. However this costs much time and money for employees. It is therefore also possible to feed the chickens with a automatic feeding system. Here a capacitive sensorcould be used for. This sensor is suited for carrying out a level measurement of an animal feeding system. Then the sensor gives a sign that it needs refilling when the the minimum level is reached. Ultrasonic sensors can also be a suitable solution for performing a level measurement of an animal feeding system.
Monitoring of feed in chicken run with capacitive and ultrasonic sensors
The CQ55 series are capacitive sensors which can be used to monitor the level in an automatic feeding system. When the minimum level is reached the feed is refilled. Because of the compact squared housing this sensor is easy to built-in in the feeding system. This sensor has furthermore a potentiometer to set in the desired levels. The teach-in buttons set up that the sensor is switching the moment the chicken feed is almost finished and then the feed is automatically being refilled.
The zws-24/CI/QS and the zws-24/CU/QS are ultrasonic sensors from microsonic which can also be deployed to perform a level measurement of a animal feeding system. These sensors have a compact cubic housing which makes it easy to built-in the sensors in the system. The zws sensors have a detection range of 50 to 350 mm and an analogue output. The sensors moreover have a temperature compensation.
With the teach-in buttons the zws sensors are easy to tune and via the teach-input in pin 2 multiple zws sensors can be synchronized with each other. This is convenient in the case that dozens of animal feeding systems in one area need to be provided with a sensor.
