Presence and orientation control of caps

There is a wide range of application where during the production process a presence and orientation control of caps and labels should be carried out. Think for example of the food and beverage industry, bottle production lines, in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries, etc. Before, the presence was always detected by standard photoelectric sensors. However a clever sensor solution has now been developed. This smart sensor has the ease of a conventional photoelectric sensor combined with camera intelligence. The smart-vs from Datalogic replace the complex vision sensors. Moreover using this sensor results in less maintenance and lower costs.
The configuration of the smart vision sensor is easy to accomplish without the need for complicated software or complex training. With the use of images and the push button on the sensor several GOOD/NO GOOD situations can be configured. Up to 6 images kan be made of the detectable object in advance. The sensor can then be used for example on a bottle production line. The sensor scans the passing bottle at high speed. After that the sensor assesses whether the cap is present and whether it has been attached correctly. Later in the process, other smart-vs sensors can determine whether the labels (printing) are present and situated in the right place.
The sensor has furthermore a 50 - 150 mm range and a IP65 & IP67 protection degree. Finally, the sensor is equipped with an Ethernet interface suited for point-to-point communication, a Push-pull (NPN/PNP) switching output and a 10-30 Vdc power supply.
