General Description
The Neuron Potentiometer Digitizer measures a wide range of resistive potentiometers and converts the resistance measurement into a 13-bit digital value. This digital value is then transmitted wirelessly via a radio link.
The sensor is designed for industrial environments, where wireless transmission makes it easy to collect data from hard-to-reach locations. Battery power ensures ease of use in places without external power.
Typical applications include pull-wire sensors, linear actuators and various positioning sensors.
Operating principle
The Neuron Potentiometer Digitizer supplies a voltage source to the potentiometer and measures the resistance of the center leg in the voltage divider circuit. This measured resistance is then converted into a 13-bit digital representation for maximum accuracy.
The sensor can measure a wide range of potentiometers from 1 kΩ to 100 kΩ.
The digital output can be configured in the app, for example, so that 100 counts represent 100 mm or 1000 counts represent 1000 mm, depending on the application.
