General Description
The Neuron Ampere is a split-core current transducer, allowing it to be easily placed around an existing conductor without interrupting the electrical system. This makes it ideal for retrofit applications and upgrading existing installations.
The sensor is widely used in industrial and commercial environments, such as building management systems, HVAC installations, industrial automation, renewable energy systems and energy monitoring.
The Neuron Ampere provides accurate and reliable current measurements and can be used for a variety of tasks such as monitoring energy consumption, detecting load changes and identifying potential problems in electrical systems. The sensor is available in a wide range of measurement ranges.
Operating principle
The current transducer has a magnetic core that surrounds the conductor in which the current to be measured flows. When the current flows through the conductor, a magnetic field is created. This field generates a current in the coil wrapped around the core. The generated current is proportional to the conductor current and can be used to determine the value.
The output signal of the transducer is a 0-10V signal, which is transmitted to the Neuron wireless transmitter. The custom-developed Neuron hardware digitizes this signal and transmits it to the Neuron Cloud via a Neuron Gateway.
The sensor performs a measurement every 10 seconds. When the current has changed more than 20% of the full measurement range since the last measurement, the sensor reports immediately. In other cases, it reports every 2 minutes.
