General Description
The Neuron Dry Contact sensor is an electronic device that detects the presence or absence of an electrical connection in potential-free loops.
The sensor is designed for a wide range of industrial and commercial applications, automation systems and process maintenance. It is often used to detect the position of mechanical parts, such as doors, valves and machine components.
The sensor has a wide operating range from -40 to 85 °C and a rugged IP67 housing, suitable for harsh environments.
The integrated battery has an expected life of up to 10 years.
Operating principle
The Neuron Dry Contact consists of a pair of wires that measures the electrical potential difference. When the two wires are connected through a valve, door or similar component, the circuit is closed and indicates that the contact has been activated. When the contacts are separated, the circuit is open and this is reported.
Every 3 seconds, the sensor measures the status of the loop. If the status has changed since the last measurement, the sensor sends the data immediately. Otherwise, the data is sent every 2 minutes by default.
