The 8000 series consists of a stand-alone transmitter (SMT) and receiver (SMR) used in beam-through mode, an SMP for diffuse proximity detection, an SMRR for retro-reflective detection and an SMPF for use with fiber optic cables. All variants feature sensitivity adjustment via an integrated potentiometer and are available with cable or plug connection.
The complete series is available as a 3-wire version with NPN or PNP transistor output and a supply voltage of 10-30 V dc, or as a 2-wire version with SCR output and a supply voltage of 20-250 V ac, with both versions offering a switchable function for light or dark operation.
The control input of the 10-30 V dc SMT is intended to temporarily turn the transmit power off or on for test purposes or for multiplexing applications.
The dc series is protected against reverse polarity of power supply, control input and output signals. The output is protected against short circuit and inductive loads.
