Gloss
The inline gloss sensors from Sensor Instruments work according to the same measurement standards as the portable gloss inspection devices. The robustness required for inline use, the non-contact and external light-insensitive measurement and the output of the corresponding signals (analog and digital) that provide information about the gloss level are taken into account. Furthermore, with an inline gloss measurement, it must be taken into account that measurements must be made at several object positions at the same time.
The gloss of a surface is the direct reflection of the light in the visible spectrum. Our GLOSS series gloss measurement sensors determine the gloss values of surfaces regardless of the color of the object. While the "predecessors" of the RLS-GD series distinguish themselves mainly on the basis of the large detection range and extreme insensitivity to external light, the gloss measurement sensors from the new GLOSS series mainly focus on a smaller detection range, which results in a greater sensitivity to small measurement differences. Furthermore, this increases the speed of the measurement and makes the housing of the GLOSS sensors a lot more compact! There are 5 versions of the GLOSS series with standard opening angles of 20°, 60° and 85° and 45° and 75°, which are mainly used in the paper industry (TAPPI standard).
