Trapped Key Interlocks

HST® trapped key interlock systems from Haake are used to safely access hazardous areas in machines. Keys to open doors or flaps are only obtained when the danger has passed, the machine has come to a standstill, and the lock can be safely opened. HST from Haake is the only Trapped Key Interlocks that has been correctly certified straight out of the factory according to Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC Annex X.

  • Door interlocks

    The locking mechanism is an industrial lock with side locking. It is used on hinged parts of machines such as entrance doors, hatches, flaps. The door can be opened by using an encrypted key.
  • Switching element with time delay

    The switching element with time delay is used to cut off the power supply to the circuits of machines or installations, gradually with ramp-down time, with rated currents up to 20A.
  • Switching elements

    Switching elements with interlocking are used to switch off the power supply to the circuits of machines or installations (without time delay). Doors or hatches can then be opened safely with the key released. For machines with an overrun time switching elements with time delay can be used.
  • Key exchange stations

    Haake key transfer systems are used to securely lock the keys of a machine. The secondary keys cannot be removed from the transfer system until the primary key is also present. Namely, the primary key must first be removed from a switching element, in order to subsequently release the secondary keys from the transfer system. Unlike the other Haake elements, a key transfer system is used when multiple secondary keys with the same encryption are desired. For example, to open several doors or hatches at the same time after switching off the machine. Key transfer systems are therefore an important link between switching elements and locking mechanisms.
  • Locking mechanisms

    Locking mechanisms are used to lock the main switch of a machine. By turning the key, the bolt moves in the recess of the switch and thus prevents the machine from being activated.

In addition to ISO 9001: 2008 certification, Haake has introduced the Full Quality Assurance System (FQA) in accordance with the guidelines of Annex X of the Machine Directive 2006/42/EC. This system was subsequently certified by the Notified Body DGUV. It enables Haake to deliver every individual HST® system without further certification by a Notified Body. This is mandatory for safety components that are supplied individually and are not covered by harmonized European standards. In short: Where other trapped key interlock systems in the market still have to be individually certified by a Notified Body after delivery, the Haake HST® system immediately meets the required safety standard up to a maximum Performance Level 4 (PLd). This not only saves time, but also significant costs.
